In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
"Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return." (Qur'an 2:156)
Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of our beloved brother, Erol Sayan, who recently returned to Allah (SWT). Erol leaves behind his beloved 9-year-old son, Mahmud, and his devoted wife, whose lives have been changed forever by this heartbreaking loss.
Mahmud is a student at Melbourne Hifz, where he is taking his first steps in learning the Qur'an through the Iqra program. He is a bright, respectful and gentle young boy with a beautiful future ahead of him. At just nine years old, he is now facing one of life's greatest hardships—the loss of his father.
While nothing can ever replace a father's love, guidance and presence, as a community we have the opportunity—and the responsibility—to stand beside Mahmud and his mother during this incredibly difficult time.
This fundraiser has been established to help provide financial support for Mahmud and his mother as they navigate the challenges ahead. Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden and provide stability while they begin rebuilding their lives.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"The one who cares for an orphan and I will be together in Paradise like this," and he joined his index and middle fingers together. (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Today, Mahmud needs more than financial assistance—he needs to know that his community is beside him, supporting him with love, care and sincere du'a. If you are able, please donate whatever you can. Every contribution will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask that you share this fundraiser and remember Erol Sayan, Mahmud and his mother in your du'as.
We ask Allah (SWT) to shower His infinite mercy upon our brother Erol Sayan, forgive his shortcomings, illuminate and expand his grave, and grant him the highest ranks of Jannatul Firdaus.
May Allah grant Mahmud and his mother patience (Sabr), strength and comfort during this immense trial, surround them with people who will support them, and make this hardship a means of immense reward for them.
