Friday, 18th April 2025 marked a truly historic and heartwarming occasion for Melbourne Hifz and the wider community. Held at Epping Memorial Hall just before Jumu'ah prayer, we celebrated the graduation of Melbourne Hifz first-ever Hifz Graduate, Luqmaan Yunus - 11 Years old, who completed his memorisation of the Quran in Ramadan 2025, Alhumdulillah.
With an incredible turnout of over 500 attendees, the atmosphere was filled with unity, gratitude, and spiritual enlightenment. On behalf of Melbourne Hifz, Sheikh Abdul Rahman, Rizbie Yunus and Luqmaan Yunus extend their heartfelt thanks to all parents, brothers, and sisters who took the time to attend this blessed gathering. Your presence made the day even more special, and we are deeply grateful for your ongoing support.
Special Thanks to Our Community Partners
A sincere Jazakum Allahu Khairan to Br. Asif Sana (Director of Programs & Institutional Relations), Br. Rahat Ryan, and Br. Mohamed Taha from Islamic Relief Australia, for their outstanding contribution in organising catering, an ice cream truck, and overall event setup. Also for Br Abdul Monaf from Antepia Sweets - Traditional Turkish Sweets, who generously provided amazing sweets. Your generosity and support were instrumental in making the day a success, and may Allah reward you abundantly and allow you to share in the reward of Luqmaan's Hifz. Ameen.
Moments of Inspiration
The Power of Hifz to Inspire the Young - A touching moment occurred when a 9-year-old boy in attendance began crying as Luqmaan recited his final lesson before Jumu’ah. When asked by his father why, he said he was overwhelmed that someone his age had memorised the Quran, and he too wanted to follow the same path. That same day, he was enrolled into Melbourne Hifz to begin his own journey. May Allah bless and guide him, and allow him to exceed all expectations, Ameen.
A Shahada That Touched Hearts - Another unforgettable moment was when a 14-year-old Australian boy, Rydah, who attended the event with his Muslim friend Mahmud, was so moved by the ceremony that after Jumu’ah, he expressed his desire to accept Islam. Alhumdulillah, he took his Shahada on the spot, with tears of joy and a heart filled with light. May Allah guide him, bless his new path, and grant him success in both Dunya and Akhirah, Ameen.
In Summary
The Hifz Graduation and Shahada ceremony was more than just an event – it was a powerful reminder of the impact the Quran can have on hearts, lives, and communities. From the completion of the Quran by a young Hafiz, to a new Muslim embracing Islam, to a child inspired to begin memorising – it was a day that brought hope, unity, and inspiration to all who attended.
Melbourne Hifz is proud to be part of these transformative moments, and we make dua that Allah continues to bless our students, families, teachers, and supporters. This is just the beginning, In Sha Allah.
